JL & MA LORD | Lord Cattle is owned and operated by James and Marjorie Lord.
James breeds cattle for the domestic and livestock cattle trade from his properties May Downs, situated 30 kilometres West of Mount Isa, Queensland, Australia and Nottingham Downs and Wick , 100km South of Hughenden, North Queensland. The cattle herd consists of approximately 17,000.00 composite Brahman Cattle in these various locations.
JL & MA LORD | Lord Cattle offers employment opportunities and outback lifestyles, in a range of jobs at the homesteads and in stock camps, including Jackaroo's, Jilleroo's, Stationhand / Stockperson (Ringers), Borepersons.
A variety of rural and stationhand jobs can become available during the year. These jobs vacancies will be listed in the Employment section of the web site.

The operation of JL & MA LORD | Lord Cattle evolves around a breeder herd based on May Downs Station and a fattening block, Nottingham Downs. Our stations practices in the applications of Natural Stockmanship Techniques, rotational grazing, grass monitoring and paddock measuring.

The May Downs staff numbers can range from 5 to 8 permanent people. May Downs also has a group of other casuals who work for us on a when needed basis.
Horse, motorbike, trapping yards and helicopters are used to muster the cattle.
Nottingham Downs employs casual people throughout the working year.

The cattle James breeds for the Export Market, Feedlots, and Domestic Meat-works Market.
The herd has a Bos Indicus base for adaptation to our environment. James has recently introduced Boran Tuli and been using Angus Brangus and Senegus ,(Senepol / Angus), bulls to his herds.
